Update: JPD 052 in the comments posted that the original image is by Kristoffer Frisk. He has a lot more art like this at his site, so I highly recommend checking it out.

This project was an exercise in modifying an existing image to add an element that fits in well. The Grim Reaper image is originally by a person who tagged it as RazorBack. While modifying this image, it was important to me to make my intended message, but not to take undue credit for RazorBack’s work. However, I ran into the problem that I needed to put text where s/he had put the RazorBack logo. I preserved it and moved it to the right side of the image to serve my needs. I also saved the address I obtained it from, but it is no longer a valid link.

First, I came up with the phrase–in fact, that may have come before I chose the picture, although I cannot quite remember. Second was integrating it into the picture, and choosing a font that suited it. I think the gothic-style font I selected was perfect. Third, I used some blending effects (outer glow and satin) to make it look like it was illuminated by the moon. I was extremely happy with the way it all blended together.

Did you give this person the okay to post your art?

That’s probably the original art, actually. Like I said in the description, my goal was to take a piece of art and add my own element. I added the text with certain effects to fit in well with the picture and the moon. I gave as much credit as I could to the creator of the original piece, and made sure to keep his logo in the picture, relocating it from the left side to the right side.

The artwork is not mine to take credit for; the addition of the text was my contribution.

I love the picture of the grim reaper..I am an amature song writer and put my work(??) on TO ‘You Tube’. I would love to use your picture on the front of my next video. Just as a start.. the first line of the song is : Go away grim reaper. your picture would be used as being ‘sent away’ to go in to the next shot would be great. It is only a hobby but I didn’t want to infringe any copywrite. Thanking you in antisipation. Bob Reeves.

The Artists name for that original piece of art is Kristoffer Frisk and he has got a lot of other great pieces…

Thanks for sharing! I’ve updated the post to reflect this information. I’m glad to finally know where this image originated.
